Pomodorini di Sardegna Tomato

The Pomodorini di Sardegna Tomato from the Greek isle of Sardinia is a red plum tomato about and inch-and-a-half long. I was given several plants this spring by a friend and was amazed how early and productive they were. The plants only reach about 3 foot - perfect for a smaller garden. Huge bunches will ripen at once which is what you want for canning as well.
I halve the tomatoes and toss them in pasta with a little olive oil, sea salt, and fresh basil. They are firm enough to hold their shape and add a tart-sweet bite to the dish. They are also great fresh in salads and can be stored for months in a cool room.
