Brad Gates discovered Evan's Purple Pear in a row of Pruden's Purple in 1997-1998. The ones I've grown are perfectly oval with a clear pink and purple skin and dark shoulders. The flavor is bright and spicy. Plants are upright, potato-leaved, and trouble-free. Production is steady throughout the season. 70 days to maturity.
