The Serrano pepper is originally from the mountains of the Mexican states of Puebla and Hidalgo - thus its name. The blunt-nosed fruit is about 2 1/2 inches long with a very fleshy interior. It is generally used green and is much hotter than the jalapeno, about 20,000 on the Scoville scale. The bushy 3 foot plants produced late in the summer here in Zone 6. Great flavor and easy to grow.
