Tonnelet striped tomato

Tonnelet is from Belgium, a cross of Striped Cavern and an unknown tomato made by Luc Fichot around 1987-88. The 2 1/2 inch oblong fruit develop in bunches of six. While the fruit is solid like a paste tomato, I found it to be juicy and fine in salads. This tomato also holds well on the vine, an important feature for market growers, and looks great in a basket of mixed varieties. I have seen photos where Tonnelet looks more pink - like Don Juan - but these are definitely red with jagged gold stripes. They are also supposed to be only 1-2 oz, but mine were 3-4 oz. In any case, this is a very productive plant. You will harvest baskets of them.
