Purple Coban (
Physalis ixocarpa
is) is a
heirloom variety from Guatemala that produces flavorful 1" fruits. They turn deep violet as the husk opens. They are surprisingly sweet as they mature and even before they fall from the vine. Tomatillos are somewhat drought tolerant, easy to grow, and used in a variety of ways including salads. They are a key ingredient in the salsas we make here in Northern New Mexico.
