Royal Purple

Royal Purple is a great new tomato in the tradition of Cherokee Purple, which is a parent. The plant is vigorous and very productive, reaching over 6 feet, and begins to bear in about 70 days. A crown of dark green tops the deep purple fruit, giving it its name. The shape is also unusual - wide at the top tapering along noticeable ribs to a blunt end. The inside is deep red with dark gel around the seed and a rich complex flavor. We have picked a dozen of these a week from a single plant over the summer here. It is still going in early October. There are plenty of wonderful black tomatoes out there, but this one should be stable at F6 and is definitely worth a try. We will send 40 seeds by first class mail. Regular-leaved, indeterminate.
